Former US Amateur Golf Champion and current PGA Tour player Ricky Barnes has established the Ricky Barnes Foundation at the Arizona Community Foundation to benefit a variety of causes, including childhood obesity and youth golf programs.

With this Foundation, Ricky and his wife, Suzanne, will continue their tradition of undertaking charitable endeavors and increase their involvement in community support going forward.

The Ricky Barnes Foundation is the realization of our continuing focus on helping the community in as many ways as possible,” said Barnes. “This is just the start of a long and fruitful relationship between the Ricky Barnes Foundation and our friends and sponsors, as well as the beneficiaries of the support we plan to provide.

Barnes, 30, is a 2003 graduate of the University of Arizona with a degree in Communications. He won the US Amateur Championship in 2002, was an All-American at the University of Arizona in 2003, and was a co-winner of the Ben Hogan Award, given annually to the nation’s top collegiate golfer.

Barnes started his professional career in 2003 and has nine career PGA top ten finishes with career earnings of over $3.5 million. His PGA career has, to this point, been highlighted by a second place finish at the 2009 US Open at Bethpage, NY, and consistently strong showings at the Major Championships.

Duff & Phelps, Breitling, Wilson Staff and Oakley, current sponsors of Barnes on the PGA Tour, have made inaugural contributions to the Foundation, the first such gifts.
